Flight #104
24 December 2023 • Dockweiler • Hang I - Beginner
My twenty fourthth day of flying at Dockweiler and my eighteenth flights on the rental Falcon 2 195. Excellent day. Still had around 10 flights. That puts me at about 235+ flights at the beach. The winds were light, around 6mph to 8mph all day, but they were fairly steady. I worked on keeping that angle low and my launches went really well. I had a few funky launches, due to not holding the nose in enough and easing out to trim too quickly. It was a great learning experience. I kept my gaze at a target way out on the horizon, as a way to keep my wings level and to ease the glider out to trim. I managed to launch with the same grace as Bob Bendetson! I watched him, and tried to imitate his launches. I held the nose in, ran about 3 steps after the harness was really taut, and I eased out to trim, and the glider shot up super high. It was awesome! I also remembered to make sure I stay loose and allow the glider to rise through my hands. I sometimes carried the glider up the hill pointed nose-down and I maintained a bottleneck grip firmly, so I didn't have to rely upon a grapevine grip to ground handle. All in all, a very educational day! That makes about 260+ foot launch flights in total.
