Flight #110
17 February 2024 • Andy Jackson Training Hill • Hang I - Beginner
Flew the Wills Wing Falcon 195 off the 120' training hill for the first time at Andy Jackson and did great in 2mph to 6mph wind. I trained with Dan DeWeese and flew this glider, not my own. I was very happy and excited to finally reach this milestone. I wasn't all that nervous and all my launches and landing were excellent. I wore my New Balance Fresh Foam X More Trail v3 shoes for the first time on Andy Jackson landings and they worked phenomenally well. No bruising to my feet at all. There was one odd launch where I had some crosswind from the west and the glider starter to yaw to the right as I launched. But, it was not big deal. I just kept the wings level, kept my good angle of attack, and kept accelerating. Once I got airborne, the glider slowly yawed back to center, as it should. I also had some of my best flare landings. I was really happy and excited with all my fights and my performance. I had one funky landing where I accidentally pushed out as I shifted my grip to flare and I turned the glider, but that was 100% my mistake. I still landed well. From here, Dan wants me to do 5 good solo flights off Marshall, and I will get signed off for my H2. In all, I had about 10 launches and landings. Made it to the grass on all flights. I now have around 20 flights from the 120' Andy Jackson training hill. That gives me a total of about 271+ foot launch flights.
