Flight #114

10 March 2024 • Marshall Peak • Hang I - Beginner

My second mountain solo in my Wills Wing Falcon 195 off Marshall Peak! Had a much better launch this time and kept the nose down a lot better. It was also my first mountain flight with my GreyFit Cocoon harness. I had one heck of a time getting into the harness, since it fits really well. But, once I managed to get in, it was quite comfortable. I would like to angle it a little higher, since I was craning my neck a lot. I also used my vario for the first time. I managed to get a little lift below the Cloudland launch and regain a few hundred feet. My approach to land was pretty good, but the air was far more buoyant than expected, so I really had to pull in hard. I was a lot higher than I was planning to be. But, I just dove really fast and still came in pretty smooth. Unfortunately, I also drifted onto the paraglider side of the airfield, which I wasn't too happy about. But, all in all, it was a good launch, flight and landing. That gives me a total of about 273+ foot launch flights.
