Flight #118
27 April 2024 • Dockweiler • Hang I - Beginner
My 30th day of flying at Dockweiler. Had around 10 flights. That puts me at about 290+ flights at the beach. That makes about 313+ foot launch flights in total. Met Ella Lucas this day, the girl doing the FlyGirl blog on aviation. The winds were around 4mph to 6mph for the first hour or two and about 9mph to 10mph later in the day. My launches and landings were all great on the Falcon 170. I had an epiphany to fly a smaller glider, to make things more challenging. I feel like my skills are pretty good at this point, and I wanted to intentionally make my launches and landings a little more difficult. A larger glider allows you to be a little more lazy and make a few more errors. A smaller glider forces you to have better form and precision. I did have one minor little whack on a landing, because the winds were low and the glider was flying faster than I expected and I didn't run out my landing enough. I was already at a complete stop when I whacked, so it was no big deal. But, overall, all my flights were excellent. Even the low-wind flights at the start of the day were really difficult, but I still pulled them off.
