Flight #130
4 August 2024 • Dockweiler • Hang II - Novice
My 39th day of flying at Dockweiler. Had around 8 flights. That puts me at about 360+ flights at the beach. That makes about 387+ foot launch flights in total. Tried the Moyes Ease harness. Did one sketchy flight on the Condor where I started to fall forward as the hangstrap tightened. Then I tried the Falcon 195 and crashed it. This time, the legloops were fine and I was able to run, but as it lifted me from my hips, it pitched my body forward which caused me to unintentionally push out, because I felt off balance. That threw me into a turn, my right wing hit the hillside and spun me. I bent a downtube for another $100. Once again, I went back to my training harness and had perfect flights the rest of the day. I'm actually quite happy about this because it proves me right - traditional harnesses which pull from the hips are a bad design and have hindered pilots for decades. This is why so many pilots screw up launches and landings.
