Flight #60
21 August 1999 • Webberville, MI • Hang II - Novice
Great flight. Rowdy tow. I released in very nice lift. The air was still very buoyant about 2000 feet. I hung out at 2800 - 3000 feet for a long time. Then I got more lift at 1200 or so but I was drifting far from the field and the sink was bad (about 600-800 down) so I came back to the field. I actually caught such a small thermal I was getting dizzy as I circled to stay in it! I had that thing cored so dead-on the second I'd start to level out to reduce my bank angle and the speed of my turn, I'd lose altitude. I had to stay in that tight turn to climb. Thankfully, I lost the thermal before I yacked.
