Flight #89

4 September 2023 • Andy Jackson Training Hill • Hang I - Beginner

My first day of flying at Andy Jackson with my own Falcon 4 195. I was so nervous to fly the training hill, since the last time I was there, I flew a Condor and broke a downtube. But I'm happy to say my flight was perfect! I had 2 launches where I just ran down the hill. On my third launch, I got a tiny bit of air and got off the ground for a second or two. But on my fourth launch, I ran fast and managed to get about a 50' flight and a perfect landing. I never whacked anythiing. I didn't damage the glider. I didn't injure myself. So, it was awesome! Even though I only had one good flight, I'm really excited because that was exactly what I needed to start overcoming my trepidation and rebuild my confidence. Knowing I can successfully launch on a very gradual slope, in almost no wind, is great for building confidence. The winds were only about 1mph to 3mph at the most. But I still managed to fly! Plus, my first flights ever were on a 20' training hill with no wind at Green Acres Park and I did great!
